Smart and PLDT Home tie up with Disney Interactive for awesome digital content

What do you get when you combine Smart and PLDT Home with Disney Interactive?

Awesome family digital entertainment at its finest!

In its first direct partnership with a telco company in the Philippines, Disney Interactive will offer subscribers access to its entire breadth of Disney Interactive portfolio, including digital titles under Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucas Film brands. Some examples are Frozen, Big Hero 6, The Avengers, Star Wars, and more.

This partnership is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. "...users will now have access to an unprecedented amount of digital entertainment content from Disney, including mobile and online games, visual e-books, value-added content services, and other co-branded mobile and home entertainment products for the combined 75 million mobile and broadband subscribers nationwide of PLDT and Smart", said PLDT and Smart President and CEO Napoleon Nazareno.

Initially, Smart subscribers will get reasonably priced access to Disney mobile game titles such as Marvel Avengers Alliance, Frozen Free Fall, Big Hero 6 Bot Fight and other offerings such as e-books and online games.

Mobile games can be easily downloaded from the GameX portal (gamex.ph/Disney) and play them on their mobile phones. These can be paid for via prepaid credits or have them added to their postpaid bills.

PLDT Home subscribers will have access to the same digital content, by the way. Also in the works -- Disney-branded content packages containing a full suite of games, apps and e-books for prepaid, postpaid and broadband plans. These would definitely enrich the subscribers' experience.

Club Penguin (www.clubpenguin.com), Disney's online multiplayer virtual world designed so kids in the Philippines can interact with kids around the world, will be promoted by both Smart and PLDT Home. In-app games, chat and interactive activities enhance Club Penguin members' experience, making it really fun, engaging and safe.

Smart says that this collaboration is part of its "Internet for All" commitment to its subscribers which not only promises affordable access to the internet but access to a complete suite of apps and content as well.

In my family, Disney is a household name. For some reason, even if my kids are all grown up already, even reruns of black and white Mickey Mouse cartoons still get their attention. Just in these last few weeks, we've actually watched Lady and the Tramp and The Black Cauldron. AGAIN! The Disney brand is indeed one that stays strong in the minds and hearts of generations, mine included. Smart move, Smart!
