Pre-orders now being accepted for the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge coming this February
Before anything else, I want to let you know that only 1,000 units of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will be made available for pre-ordering till February 15 so if you have been waiting for this beauty, this is the time to place your order.
I was able to hold the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge some time back when I got hold of the unit of my friend, Art Samaniego. Art always had first dibs on most of the new gadgets that come into the marketplace and at a blogger event, he gladly made me hold and admire the Note Edge.
There is no other smartphone out in the market today that has this form factor. Enclosed in a metal frame is this 5.6" Quad HD and super AMOLED display. But more than that is this curved edge that reveals a second vertical screen running along the right side of the phone. Both screens can be customized. The vertical screen gives that extra user space for quick access via finger swiping to frequently used apps, alerts and device functionality that works even when the cover is closed.
The 2 screens work independently. It's good to know that even while watching a video on the full display screen, for example, one can still read emails and notifications on the vertical screen. Texts scroll along its edge allowing uninterrupted video viewing while still catching up on other stuff. One-handed operation is also easy and lefties, you need not worry that the vertical screen is on the righthand side because all you need to do is flip the phone upside down and now the entire menu flips, making the vertical screen accessible for your left hand.
A quick demo at the launch for media showed that you can actually do 3 tasks simultaneously. Since the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge features the MultiWindow feature, you can split the screen into two to simultaneously do 2 different things at the same time like watching a video on one screen while answering emails on the other. But in addition, the vertical screen allows another space to do a third task.
Like the Note series, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge definitely has the S Pen and all the applications that go with it. I use the S Pen on my own old Note so this is a big plus for those like me who actually use it for drawings and notetaking.
You can now be one of those with first dibs on the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and be one of the its 1,000 proud owners. You have till February 15, 2015 to pre-order. And there are more reasons to pre-order because it comes with some goodies:
* A free flip cover worth PhP 1,499
* An extended warranty that covers two years
* Free content and services including one season pass to any available TV series on Seasons
* free bookings for three (3) rides from GrabTaxi
* Five (5) complimentary passes to a special movie bundle from Blink
How to Pre-order
Pre-ordering is easy. Just go to any Samsung Experience Store nationwide up to February 15, 2015. You can choose 3 payment modes: cash, straight card payment, or zero interest installment scheme over 18 months through BPI and local Citibank credit cardholders. The units will be released through the Samsung Experience Store where you made the purchase starting March 7, 2015 until sixty (60) days from start of claiming period.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge retails at PhP 43,990. It comes in 2 colors: charcoal black and frost white.
And...you can trade in your old phone too!
Also till February 15, 2015, you can go to SM Megamall's Samsung Experience Store and trade in your old smartphone. A trade-in value will be assigned to your unit and this can be deducted from the SRP of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The net SRP becomes the cost of the Note Edge and the basis of the 18-month installment payment if you choose that option.

This is how lefties can use the Note Edge. Everything flips upside down. Cool! |
