At a recent #SafePH gathering of disaster response advocates including people from National Disaster and Risk Reduction Management (NDRRMC) and organizations from the private sector, one of the things taken up was a presentation on the Batingaw app , developed by NDRRMC in collaboration with and Smart Communications. Wow, the Philippine Stock Exchange has just brought stock investing info to a new level by launching its PSE Edge app today. Edge, which stands for Electronic Disclosure Generation Technology, is a state-of-the-art, fully automated system acquired from Korea Exchange and tailored for PSE's needs with the Koreans' help. It replaces the current PSE Online Disclosure System (ODiSy). It now has more features that further standardize disclosure reporting from the PSE's listed companies. This in turn enhances and levels the playing field for smaller investors who can now have the same access to information as the much bigger players and stockbrokers. This means improved transparency all around and encourages more investments in the equities market from the smaller investors who can be assured of equal access to corporate information.

Cloud storage is now becoming the way to store one's files so you can take it everywhere. Dropbox initially offered 2GB free storage with increasing storage for every new user you bring in. iCloud started with 5GB. My son told me about Box some time back so I registered for an account just as a backup cloud storage but never used it. You will want to download Box on your iPhone or iPad as soon as possible though because for a limited time, all users who download the iOS app get 50GB cloud storage FOR LIFE. Yes, it is never going away!

Just recently, I opened a Bubbly account after I heard great things about it from blogger friends Noemi and Jim Paredes. At first I thought it was just another nice medium for social networking that had an audio component. But today, I learned it had the potential for doing more. But I am getting ahead of myself. Let me tell you first what Bubbly is. Bubbly is a voice app. It's sort of a hybrid between Twitter and Instagram. Like Twitter which has a limit of 140 characters, it's got a 90 second limit to audio recording. And while its picture quality is nowhere near Instagram's with all its filter options, Bubbly is handy as a talk-and-publish-on-the-fly app, just like Instagram which lets you snap a picture and post immediately. Have you ever used Flickr to store photos before? I have. I began with the free version but when I maxed out the 200 photos it could show at any one time, I decided to buy Flickr Pro ($24.95) for 2 years. Flickr had a great photostream widget for blogs and I loved it. But somewhere along the way, I stopped using it. There was Facebook. But now, there is a huge reason to reactivate my Flickr account. You now get FREE one terabyte of storage! If you still have your old Flickr account, it works. I just logged on to my old one and immediately got a notice that I had 1 terabyte worth of storage. Wow! If you think Foursquare is cool, you have to check out the potential of Zodio , a newly launched social, location-based search and reviews app. Available on iOS and Android devices, Zodio is meant to cater to the Pinoy/Asian culture and preferences. According to Zodio's Community Manager, Mark Bantigue, Zodio is being released initially in the Southeast Asian countries but will eventually cover North Asia like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, etc. I downloaded the app on my Samsung Galaxy SIII and the home screen was a very clean presentation of blue and orange. The blue boxes represented information about yourself, your friends, your feed, bookmarks, recently visited sites and a follow box. The 3 orange boxes in the middle are action-based: write a review, find places nearby, and the check-in option.
