PSE Edge app: stock investing info on the go

Wow, the Philippine Stock Exchange has just brought stock investing info to a new level by launching its PSE Edge app today. Edge, which stands for Electronic Disclosure Generation Technology, is a state-of-the-art, fully automated system acquired from Korea Exchange and tailored for PSE's needs with the Koreans' help. It replaces the current PSE Online Disclosure System (ODiSy). It now has more features that further standardize disclosure reporting from the PSE's listed companies. This in turn enhances and levels the playing field for smaller investors who can now have the same access to information as the much bigger players and stockbrokers. This means improved transparency all around and encourages more investments in the equities market from the smaller investors who can be assured of equal access to corporate information.

All the information on this app is as real-time as you can get. I was told that almost as soon as information is posted on the PSE Edge website, it also reflects on this app. This is going to be very helpful for people who are on the go and do not always have the luxury of bringing around their laptop to check the PSE Edge website. They can now check the app on the go.

The PSE Edge app is available on the iOS and Android platforms.

Below are some screenshots from the app showing the different information you can get.

Clicking any of the company names under "Company Information" above will bring you to a more detailed profile which actually includes the stock price info for the day (Open, High, Low, Average, Last Traded Price, etc).

The app also has a "My Page" tab where you can select companies you want to monitor. For now, the app only allows 10 company selections but will study the possibility of increasing this. The companies you select for monitoring will be pushed to you via notification every time something new is disclosed or submitted to the PSE.

Social media sharing is also a welcome component of PSE Edge. Company disclosures can be shared via Twitter or Facebook. Unfortunately, at the time I was trying out the Share feature, my Samsung Note 2 did not have the share button (should be on upper righthand corner) of Company Disclosures. I guess this is a kink that PSE needs to iron out for now. I will update this post once the issue is fixed.

Download the app from the App Store or Google Play store.
