Smart now has the iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina with Postpaid Plans
The holidays are a good time as any to indulge yourself after months of hard work. Or give the gift of love to someone who works just as hard.
Smart, through its subsidiary Smart Broadband (SmartBro) is now offering the iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina in different affordable data plans that allow subscribers to connect to Smart's LTE network with speeds up to 42 MBPS.
iPad Air
Holding the iPad Air, I was really impressed with how much lighter it was. But of course, I was still the owner of the original iPad 1 (haha). But really, my hubby has the iPad 4 and the iPad Air was definitely lighter. Featuring a 9.7-inch retina display, it is 20% thinner than the iPad 4 and at just one pound, it is 28% lighter as well. Its borders also feature a narrower bezel.
iPad Mini Retina
This is the 7.9-inch version of the iPad Air. Powered with the A7 chip of Apple with 64-bit desktop architecture, the iPad Mini is actually what I've been waiting for. The size is just perfect for smaller women's bags. I've tried putting the iPad 1 into my bag and even without the weight, the size always limited the kind of bag I had to use. With the iPad Mini though, that dilemma is solved. And now, being retina, it already fills part of my requirement for the successor to my iPad 1. On top of that, it sports a 5MP rear cam and a 1.2MP front cam. For Facetime, this is much better than the VGA front cam on the original iPad Mini.
Postpaid Data Plans for iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina
Both the iPad Air and iPad Mini retina are available on Plan 1499 (16GB) and Plan 1699 (32GB). Both plans come with 65 hours of LTE internet surfing per month and an Anti-Bill Shock Guarantee so that subscribers don't worry about bills that skyrocket out of control.
In addition, for the iPad Air there is a one-time fee of PhP 5,000 and for the iPad Mini retina it is PhP 1,000. Both plans also have a 24-month lock-in period.
The monthly device amortization is already built into the monthly service fees so a subscriber doesn't even have to have a credit card to break the device cost into monthly installments.
