Globe announces 100% 3G coverage now and full 4G coverage in 90 days; partnership with Lotus F1

Today, Globe's President & CEO, Ernest Cu, announced before media and bloggers that Globe has finally achieved 100% network coverage with 3G signal and that in another 90 days, it will be able to provide full HSPA+ (LTE) coverage.

Globe's Cu says the rollout of both 3G and 4G HSPA+ infrastructure for its entire network is part of its transformation efforts to deliver the most modernized telecommunications infrastructure in the country. With this transformation, they say subscribers should expect enhanced coverage in major points of convergence and a more reliable network not just for texts and voice calls but also for fast internet connection.

Globe says it continues to build more 3G and 4G cell sites and by end of 2014 it expects to exceed 6,500 cell sites.

Meanwhile, as part of the celebrations for 100% 3G coverage nationwide, Globe became the exclusive business partner of the Lotus F1 team in the country and telecommunication partner of Filipino-Swiss Formula One racer, Marlon Stockinger, who placed the Philippines on the F1 radar.

The most memorable of Stockinger was his first place finish at the Monaco leg of Grand Prix 3 Series in 2012 that earned him a spot in the Lotus F1 Junior Team. He and 6 others began rigorous training in February 2013 and currently he is competing in the Renault World Series, a major step towards qualifying for F1 events.

Save the date because on Aug. 30, 2014, Stockinger will lead the Globe Speed Day at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. A portion of BGC will be transformed into a race track and Stockinger will show off his track skills driving his Lotus-Gravity Charouz Formula Renault 3.5 race car. Cu said that it is not cheap to bring in a Formula One race car so this is a very rare opportunity for racing aficionados. Lotus F1 simulators, booths, freebies and games in partner establishments around BGC will add to the overall fun day.

As a Globe subscriber, I am eager to really test out the full 3G nationwide coverage which Globe is promising. Will it really deliver this time as promised? I sure hope so. Unfortunately, having no LTE-capable phone, I won't be able to test the full LTE coverage in another 90 days.

How about YOU tell me your own experience?
